Christopher Bailey did more than just dig back in the brand’s archives this year to find the perfect formula for the era – for several seasons now, through constant reinventions of the brand’s codes, Bailey has today been able to bring the time-told trench as imagined by Thomas Burberry over a century ago back into fashion.
That’s how the central piece in this season’s runway sometimes ends up with a half-zipper, sometimes without, at times used as an overcoat, at times worn as a trenchcoat. White with a zipper and a long light collar that boasts both aesthetics and protection, the new variation of the Burberry trenchcoat seems to fit right in at the end of the 70s. Giving an instant look to the man that makes it his own, the overtrench in its new incarnation establishes itself as the must-have for next winter.
