Treat yourself to these iconic women’s watches

Having transcended beyond just being functional, watches have become a piece of jewellery that are a must have for any outfit. A very personalised signature. Here are the iconic women’s watches to gift yourself or somebody else!

Just like bags and shoes, watches are now a piece to invest in. Just as powerful as they are dazzling, some of them can be considered works of art in their own right. Icon-Icon has put together a selection of the most stylish, useful and beautiful women’s watches on offer.

Classic Watches

Let’s begin with the iconic classic Rolex Lady-Datejust watch! More precisely, an exclusive and sensual version of the legendary Oyster Rolex. A watch which crossed the Channel in 1926 on Mercedes Gleitze’s wrist. Here is the Perpetual Lady-Datejust version, entirely incrusted with diamonds on the case, the bezel and the President bracelet.

In 1932, the legendary Patek Philippe watchmaking company released the Calatrava watch – a watch that has lost none of its shine and embodies the purest expression of Patek Philippe’s wristwatch design.

The Piaget Altiplano is a symbolic watch for the company, and the favourite of women with taste. This watch embodies half a century’s pursuit and success of the extra-flat case. With each edition, the Altiplano continues to surpass its own extra-slim case record! With the most elegant designs, it truly displays the luxury of Piaget prestige.

What about the Patrimony Vacheron-Constantin watch? A watch which is part of the heritage of the oldest watchmaking house to have practised its art and know-how without interruption since its establishment in 1755. As a result, this captivating watch represents a long history of art and technology!

A little more robust but just as refined, the Big Bang Steel Diamond is the perfect watch for strong women.

If Hublot made the Big Bang the standard-bearer of their exceptionally precise expertise, it is because this watch embodies the company’s inventive and courageous spirit – the art of fusion. In other words, it represents Hublot’s know-how of perfecting the combination of materials.

Without a doubt the Reverso is the most famous Jaeger-Lecoultre timepiece. However, for sophisticated women the Rendez-vous Classic comes to mind straight-away. A work of art that can be worn, to quote the mantra of this watchmaking house.

The Omega Constellation collection combines elegance with precision. Furthermore, when you know that Omega sent one of their watches to the moon, you better understand the lunar inspiration behind this watch!

Now, for a real-life fantasy contemporary watch, the Tank de Cartier which was created in 1917 by Louis Cartier, and worn by Jackie Kennedy, Andy Warhol, Diana, Duke Ellington and Truman Capote. In 2021, the Must version further compliments the story in a colourful and accessible version!

Iconic jewellery watches

These watches will mesmerise the eye to the extent of forgetting to read the time on them. Let’s start with the Serpenti Tubogas by Bulgari!

In 1932 the iconic snake, named “Tubogas” in reference to the industrial aesthetics of the time was debuted in the Bulgari universe. The collection quickly became legendary, notably from being on Elizabeth Taylor’s wrist. And it is in the watch version that enchants us the most!

At Cartier, the Panther timepiece will take your breath away, and for good reason!

The panther is credited with the house’s most legendary finery, the extravagance of the jewels, which combine stones, colours, shapes and styles like no other! It is to Jeanne Toussaint, the creative director of Cartier from 1933 to 1970, who was nicknamed the panther, that we owe the panther jewel, which has since become an iconic watch.

The Chopard mantra “Little Diamonds Do Great Things” takes on its full meaning in this watch, as it is the very movement of the wearer that gives life to the diamonds embedded in the hollow of the iconic Happy Sport the First watch.

From the Dior watch collection, we choose La D de Dior! In 2003, Victoire de Castellane designed this watch, a first for the talented jeweller, who drew inspiration from the classic signatures of the house.

For Chanel, we swear by the Première! It is the first watch designed by Chanel exclusively for women, in 1987. This timepiece was inspired by the octagonal shape of the No 5 bottle cap, which was modelled off of the Place Vendôme silhouette.

Now for Hermès, created in 1997 by Philippe Mouquet, the Hermès Heure H collection plays with the letter H – an ultra-classical symbol of the most renowned fashion house.

Finally, it is at the jeweller’s Chaumet that we find a beautiful women’s watch, the Jospehine Aigrette watch, which honours one of their most distinguished clients Jospehine the Empress of the French, who inspired many extraordinary Chaumet designs.

Once again, the hardest thing is to decide between them all now!
