In celebration of the year of the Tiger Gucci classics have been revived with floral and animal motifs – in a collection that includes a new take on the iconic Gucci Flora.
The Year of the Tiger: A New Flora Print
Alessandro Michele seized the opportunity of the New Year of the Tiger to put a twist on the Gucci classics with floral, vegetal and animal tones.
In this capsule collection the tiger can be seen everywhere, but it is in a new Flora print that the tiger roars on pieces destined to become iconic. The new Flora print, while inspired by the one brought to life in the 1960s for Grace Kelly by Vittorio Accornero, now includes a tiger on a background of vegetation and flowers in pastel shades. Furthermore, it is on the Jackie 1961 bag that this motif it is even more alluring.
The print can be found on ready-to-wear pieces including coats, jeans, shirts and dresses. While also embellished onto jackets with a tiger and the words “Gucci Tiger” – a direct reference to this year’s Chinese New Year!
The print is featured on the famous Gucci Mocassins, a shoe that belongs to the world’s fashion heritage, in celebration of this special occasion. From the reconceptualised Gucci classics, we can also enjoy the implementation of the tiger on classic Gucci elements such as the web strip and double GG logo which have a knack for marrying all of Alessandro Michele’s fantasies.
As for the filming of this dreamy video campaign Gucci notes that: “The Gucci Tiger collection comes to life in a campaign created by Creative Director Alessandro Michele and shot by photographer and director Angelo Penetta. Furthermore, as a real life reference to the collection’s key motif, actual tigers roam the scenes of the campaign, having joined a group of friends for high tea in various locations in a luxurious, retro-style hotel”.
As a never-ending source of inspiration, the emblematic pieces of Gucci’s universe once again serve as a masterpiece of the fusion between tradition and modernity, between the past and the future announced with the entry into this new year of the Tiger!
