Shoes have never been so sassy, so iconic, so flamboyant, as the ones at Prada. For several seasons now, they’ve been surprising and ravishing journalists and customers alike with their artistic reinterpretations and aesthetic balance.

First it was brogues, with their elegant leather and gigantic rubber sole, that attracted the attention of the entire world. A perfect mix between brogues, dandy shoes, platform shoes, and punk shoes, they were a true fashion hybrid. Their varnished leather, rounded toe, very classic, laces, and numerous intricate details gave elegance and finesse to the shoe. Then came a thin tressed cord followed by an incredible triple rubber platform heel, struck through with a line of color that gave it a graphic vibe and broke all the rules of this old school shoe.

Miuccia Prada, incarnation of Italian chic, hasn’t even waited a year before once again pushing boundaries. She’s succeeded in uniting two contradictory ideas that we have about women: softness and aggressivenes, symbolized by a shoe collection with a futuristic look, inspired by American automobiles from the 50s. The shoes are equipped with wings, adorned with flames, headlights, and bright colors.

This season, the Italian fashion papesse is blowing us away with a collection of Japanese-esque shoes. Some are inspired by Okobos, famed shoes of the Geisha. Their delicate white leather straps hold together a pair of surprising neon-colored shoes. Other, more brazen ones, are colored in metallic shades and covered in precious adornments. Just as surrealist as its predecessors, this new work of art from Miuccia turns the rules upside down and is alluring with its contradictory style. Unique and original with its shapes, colors, and materials, the brand, at the whim of its designer, continues to surprise and innovate.
