The Rolling Stones in Concert in France

The Rolling Stones are living music, fashion and art legends, true icons who deserve a look back on while they prepare for their concert in Paris!

The Stones: Legends

It was in London’s West End where Mick Jagger, Keith Richard and Brian Jones formed what is now the world’s most legendary rock band! Take yourself back to the start of the 60s.

More than 60 years later, in 2022, the Rolling Stones have had at least 13 full members who have come and gone over the years and gone on tours. The Stones have announced their tour which will have a concert at the Hippodrome de Longchamp in Paris on the 23rd of July 2022. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Steve Jordan are expected to replace the late genius Charlie Watts on drums.

How can you briefly describe the Stone’s music? Anything Keith Richards played, from the simplest selection of notes to the most momentous riff, pushed the boundaries of music. Bill Wyman et Charlie Watts ont eu su attraper l’Ă©lan de Keith Richards pour mener la batterie dans des territoires encore inexplorĂ©s.

Charlie Watts brought his ear for jazz to the Stone’s crazy heart. Finally, Mick Jagger’s natural rhythm and showmanship made the Rolling Stones the ultimate rock’n’roll band!

With 23 albums, from “Beggars Banquet” (1968), “Let it Bleed” (1969), “Sticky Fingers” (1971) and “Exile on Main Street” (1972), the pioneers of Rock prompted a musical, style and above all a cultural revolution. Therefore, the Stones can be regarded as true icons. Their influence on the public, morals and fashion is simply astronomical!

Their lives have changed lives, and their outfits have defined an iconic genre and style. Even redefining masculinity.

To get a better idea of the Rolling Stones’ rock aesthetic, it was as much about fashion as a way of life, you simply cannot be unenchanted by the photographer Brent Rej’s photos.

Collected in this Taschen SUMO book, which only has 70 copies, these photos tell the story of The Rolling Stones from March 1965 to May 1966. Brent Rej became one of the rock band’s friends and associates, he had unique access to the Stones and accompanied them on their first full European tour: The Satisfaction tour!

For their new tour in France, Icon-Icon has put together a selection of beautiful and noteworthy books to immerse yourself in about the crazy, elegant and extremely routine world of the Rolling Stones.

You can dive into the world of opera and music with these two beautiful, sharp and fascinating books.

The excellent The rolling Stones All the Songby Philippe Margotin and Jean-Michel Guesdon, revisits the metaphysical depth of the Stones’ lyrics, over big rock riffs.

And Régis Chanselier’s book, The Rolling Stones – 1962-1967, which reminisces on the members of arguably the most adored rock band’s past!

Another key way the Stones’ expressed themselves was through their album covers. The Rolling Stones’ aesthetic has paved the way for many artistic inspirations. Alain Gouvrion’s beautiful book Rolling Stones Collection Coverlooks back at all of them through the lens of the legendary Stone’s album covers! Now for the fashion and style part of their revolution.

Les Styles Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones’ androgynous look is mainly thanks to Keith Richards. In the band’s attempt to shed the aesthetic image that was too close to that of the Beatles, it was Keith Richards who first introduced an androgynous silhouette by nicking pieces from his then-girlfriend, the visionary Anita Pallenberg.

Wearing eye-catching jumpsuits, sharp suits and blue eye shadow, the Rolling Stones leader has been the model rock star for nearly six decades.

Then came the charismatic Mick Jagger and his cheeky on-stage persona, with his sexual style and serpentine dance moves which established the Rockstar.

Mick Jagger’s flamboyance and gangly glamour set the standard for the rock star look; half dandy and half feminine!

From designer suits to furs, colours and above all the freedom of doing what had never been done before, the Stones moved fashion forwards by leaps and bounds.

Both of them wore suits. She wore a Yves Saint Laurent dinner jacket, and he wore a bespoke three-piece made by the iconic Savile Row tailor Edward Sexton Like Bianca’s, Mick’s marriage look was the epitome of 70s glamour: a white suit, and dirty trainers. heir iconic wedding created a new wave of ceremonial looks.

Like their sound, their style also evolved over time. From New Wave to post-punk, 60 years of Rock are explored in Howard Kramer and Valeria Manferto De Fabianis’ book which comes out in April 2022.

In the lead up to the 2022 tour, the history of the Rolling Stones’ is the topic of this book selection.

This is particularly true in The Rolling Stones, written in collaboration with the band, which opened its archives to Reuel Golden, the former editor of the British Journal of Photography.

A musical and aesthetic masterpiece which inspires!
