The Prada men’s A/W 2022 show reintroduced the near and dear gimmicks of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simmons, based on silhouettes that reinvent the modern man’s uniform.
Prada men’s F/W 2022: Body of Work
Named Body of work, the Prada men’s A/W 2022 collection aimed to reinvent the modern-day man’s uniform through the stylistic flourishes of Raf Simmons and Miuccia Prada.
“We were thinking about meaningful fashion, pieces that make sense. Clothes that make people feel important. This collection celebrates the idea of working – in all different spheres and meanings. It is a practical, everyday thing. But here, you are formally important. You are not casual.”
The result you ask? Prada’s iconic gimmicks, including ugly printsand unexpected fusions of fabrics and styles that took over the well-tailored suits. Notably, mohair fur and double-breasted coats and blazers in traditional shades made an appearance.
Other pieces were as elegant as ever with oversized proportions for exaggerated shoulders. Meanwhile, other combinations resulted in bombers – Raf Simmons’ signature piece – with an extremely slim fit.
This collection exuded the entirety of Miuccia Prada’s vision, a sort of political parody – a feature she often presents in her fashion. Or to put it plainly, Miuccia Prada described the collection as “a parody of the power of man”. The prairie print overalls can attest to that!
