Versace. It’s a name associated as much with the Italian label as with the decadent parties once thrown by its founder Gianni Versace. The baroque designer from the 80s often rubbed elbows with notables from the entertainment world. Actors, singers, models… Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Elizabeth Hurley are all names that graced his address book. And as if to “canonize” these borderline familial friendships, Gianni never hesitated to feature his favorite celebs in his ad campaigns, often deemed “exhibitionist” by their detractors. No matter; his luxurious, original, and colorful collections always succeeded in winning over a wide audience, regardless of what critics had to say.
