Born in 2009, the Peekaboo line is the very essence of duality – one of Fendi’s fundamental values. These trompe-l’oeil bags imagined by Frida Giannini conform to a favorite past time of little ones. Indeed, the name peekaboo reminds us of the infantile game. By taking off from this idea, the creative director composed a bag that boasts pure chic; a bag with whispered elegance that is properly rough around the edges. By giving savoir-faire precedence over spectacle to reveal the surprise of an intimate soul, the Peekaboo icon can be worn with its bellows wide open. This trend is anchored in a new idea of dreamy sensuality that can be acquired this month at auction.
So what’s unique about these new pieces? For starters, there are only ten copies. Ten copies revisited by personalities like actress Gwyneth Paltrow, model Georgia May Jagger, Cara Delevingne, architect Zaha Hadid, illustrator Tracey Emin, or singer Adele. Unveiled during the inauguration of the Italian fashion house’s new flagship on Bond Street, each style will be released in two copies, with one reserved for their author. Before being put up for auction on fendi.com, the bags will be presented at Sotheby’s. The iconic piece takes on a new allure thanks to these stars. With rhinestones and paint, peace slogans and tags, this story is first and foremost one about women and having a bit of heart. Indeed, the proceeds from the sales will go to the British association Kids Co. The auction will be held until May 30th onwww.fendi.com/peekaboo-auction.
