Introduced in April 2022, the Omega novelties pay tribute to the icons of the house: starting by the Moonwatch, Speedmaster and Seamaster!
Omega New Releases: Iconic Watches Are Redesigned
Our timepieces have conquered adventurers bold enough to explore other latitudes, be they abyssal or spatial. We are, of course, very proud of our major place on the international stage for we are very committed to it. But if there is one thing that is particularly important to us, it is our privileged relationships that grow stronger over time,” explains ahead of Omega Days 2022
An event where the house introduced these new interpretations of these legendary watches… Starting with the watch that walked on the moon: the legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch.
To better understand its history and the very special place that Omega holds in watchmaking, a selection of beautiful books to browse, will help.
2022 New Speedmaster Moonwatch Named Moonshine
The Speedmaster is without a doubt one of the most mythical watches in history. The only one to have withstood the abundant Olympian tests led by NASA before finally sending mankind to the Moon. That day in 1969, it was the Speedmaster Omega that Buzz Aldrin wore on his wrist.
In 2022, the Speedmaster Moonwatch celebrates its legend with material as a rare as fascinating. Featuring steel, Sedna™ gold and Canopus Gold™, here comes the Moonshine™ gold Speedmaster Moonwatch. Exclusive to the Omega house, the Moonshine gold is an 18K yellow gold alloy inspired by moonlight. A bit paler than 18K yellow gold, the Moonshine gold gives even more character to this legend of watchmaking.
The house describes the new versions as “One with Moonshine™ gold dial, black ceramic bezel, and blackened counters and indexes; the other one with green PVD-coated dial and green ceramic bezel. Omega offers two ways to attach the Moonshine™ Gold Moonwatch to the wrist: a matching gold bracelet or a leather bracelet.”
Inside these watches -as sublime as the reverberation of the moon in a night blue sky- we can find the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 3861!
The Speedmaster Master Chronometer
Before being named Moonwatch, it is the Speedmaster model that designated the iconic watch in the Omega catalog. Originally designed for car-racing, it won its stripes – and position – on the wrists of astronauts on the various Apollo missions.
In 2022, the Omega Speedmaster returns in the 57 format, launched in 2013. A total of eight new stainless-steel models, all powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 9906, that are part of the panache of the new Omega Speedmaster 57′.
A sleek, more refined watch of 12.99mm thickness only. The house explains that “The integration of a manual-winding movement makes it possible to thin the case and bezel to offer the new ’57 a more streamlined look. A black dial edition with a «sandwich» style with carved hour-markers and covered with vintage Super-LumiNova is added to three models with blue, green, or lacquered burgundy PVD dial. The entire collection is presented with a matching-colored stainless steel or leather bracelet.”
The ultimate allusion to the mission that made the Omega watch so legendary, is that in its steel version, the bracelet is directly inspired by a tribute edition to Apollo 11, launched in 2019!
The Seamaster Omega: James Bond’s watch reinvent itself.
Since its launch in 1993, the Seamaster Professional Diver 300M has been the favorite watch for adventurers… Like James Bond who owned it!
The Omega Seamaster is a timepiece now reinvented: bolder and more distinguished than ever. To better understand what’s new, you still have to listen to what Omega describes: “with a dial decorated with a wavy pattern in astonishing green hues, this 42 mm stainless steel watch features a polished green ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel with white Grand Feu enamel. This stunning new Seamaster Diver 300M with polished green ceramic dial is also driven by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 caliber with special luxury finishes.”
It is in this fascinating green dial that the ocean icon of the Omega repertoire is reinvented.
And the other great Omega collection dedicated to the exploration of the land and the sea is the Seamaster Aqua Terra.
It was also reimagined for the Omega Days 2022 and it is in a variety of soft hues inspired by the sublime nuances of the earth that the Seamaster Aqua Terra has been reviewed!
“… to choose between large 38 mm models with Atlantic blue, laurel green, sandstone, saffron or terracotta dials, and 34 mm editions with ocean blue, lagoon green, sandstone, pink or lavender dials
These superb new dials, fashioned in brass, are sunlit from the center and feature rhodium plated hands and indexes on the 38 mm models or 18K white gold on the 34 mm versions» describes Omega.
New watches of desire, the Seamaster Aqua Terra is coming with a completely redesigned metal bracelet, with rounded links. Inside, it is the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 caliber that makes the rhythm of everyday adventure beat!
