Every year, like a remedy for winter gloom, Kiehl’s teams up with an artist to reinterpret its legendary Crème de Corps line. After Kaws, Pharell, or last year’s Jeff Koons, this winter it’s Kenny Scharf’s turn to work his magic.
This artist first found success in the 80s alongside Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring by creating a connection between graffiti and contemporary art. Today he is the last disciple of the New York movement.
As he put it: “Making Art makes me happy. It’s like making a garden grow. I like my gardens to be exuberant, luxurious, and exotic.”
For this limited edition line, the artist incorporated motifs from his painting “Globo Mundo”, a genuine representation of the world via a profusion of liquid figures that bring to mind the texture of the very work that they adorn.
Crème de Corps, created more than 40 years ago in Kiehl’s’ laboratories, has since become a best seller for the New York-based brand. Aside from pampering our skin – thanks to its formula with a base of beta-carotene, squalene, and hydrating oils – all the profits from this limited edition cream will be donated to 45 different associations for the protection of children around the world. This is one gift that’s good for the body and for the conscience.
