Nadège Vanhée-Cybluski learned from the greatest – Martin Margiela, Céline, or The Row, the designer’s distinct touch and modern, pure vision of fashion has gotten the attention of Hermès. Indeed, she has a penchant for creations that, while perhaps simple around the edges, contain all the complexity of a work worthy of the brand. And so Hermès takes a careful approach to elegance… or rather to the timeless refinement of the clothing that gets paired with this French label. “Hermès,” she says, “is a reference that we look at with admiration, desire, wonder. A comprehensive brand that makes no compromises on that quality and that has a love of objects, not appearances.”

It was in this spirit that Nadège Vanhée-Cybluski presented efficiently minimalist pieces in Paris, beautiful and functional in equal measure. Hermès’ attention to detail isn’t lacking for an ounce of poetry, and the creative director didn’t forget to remind us this. On a peplum top, the corsage appears so self-evidently that the suppleness and softness of the leather can only accentuate the brand’s own work. As pure as it is worked, this piece is radical – a bit retro, a bit exotic, but surreptitiously futuristic. All the codes of Hermès are at work here – amplitude, roundness, style, and tranquility.
