FW 2022 Off-White Quotes

This Off-White collection was the last to be designed by Virgil Abloh, the Autumn/Winter 2022 collection exhibits the iconic signatures of this house which quickly established itself first and foremost with its signature quotations!

Since Virgil Abloh’s sudden death in November, tributes from the fashion and music worlds have been flooding in. It must be said that Virgil Abloh created a powerful discussion on the principles of humanity, inclusion and sharing ideas.

It is exactly around this conversation that this collection named “Spaceship Earth” is based, displaying Off-White’s iconic codes. With, in mind, the signature quotes. The stand out quotations were “Question Everything” and “Little black dress” printed on to a little black dress modelled by Kendall Jenner. These recognisable Off-White designs were exhibited to music composed by Jeff Mills, a true DJ of our time.

So, what about sharing? In the words of Pharrell Williams, one of the guests alongside Rihanna and Asap Rocky, explained this idea at the start of the show: “Share the codes… share the cheat codes. A lot of us had to figure it out ourselves… that’s where we go wrong. The more of us that learn the codes, the stronger we are.”

It is true, Virgil Abloh wanted to make his creative process accessible by offering his community the opportunity to follow him in the process of each of his collections, and his multiplecollaborations.

This Autumn/Winter 2022 Off-White collection was all about Off-White gimmicks, the blend or streetwear and couture, in seas of taffeta and tulle balanced out with T-shirts and sneakers.

Speaking of couture, this collection introduced a new haute couture line (without the haute couture title) which the show’s note of intent stated was “started by Virgil and finished by the creative teams and collaborators with whom he worked with”.

Around twenty couture looks that open the way to the future of Off-White… Without Virgil Abloh.
