The photo exhibit “The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfield” is getting ready to take over Dubai on April 27th. After traveling the world, the man with the ponytail and former editor-in-chief of Vogue France are continuing their retrospective in the United Arab Emirates. The exhibit, inaugurated in Tokyo in April 2012, has gone through ten big international cities to honor Chanel’s mythic piece.
In order to offer the exhibit a multi-dimensional experience, Chanel has opted for a cross-media format. A bona fide platform, the website thelittleblackjacket.chanel.com presents a teaser of behind the scenes of the project and the photo shoot’s “Making Of”.
More than a hundred personalities from the worlds of fashion, music, and dance, women and even men posed in front of the Kaiser of the haute couture house’s lens. You can check out portraits of Vanessa Paradis, Uma Thurman, Alice Dellal, and Edgar Ramirez among others. All of them show off the iconic piece that hasn’t ceased to be revisited since 1983. Inspired by the uniforms of the staff of an Austrian hotel, the piece, created by Coco Chanel in 1954, has become timeless and universal. And so she is being honored, all while celebrating the personalities of those who participated in the project. The little black jacket is everywhere and for everyone, a true asset that only perfects the infiniteness of individuality.
