The Versus line was first created by a brother for his little sister. While Versace was at the height of its glory, Gianni decided to bequeath a ready-to-wear line to his little sister Donatella. Versus thus became the eponymous signature of a certain style – that of a glamorous party girl, elegant and conscientious, who must overcome many a trials along the way. Today, the Versus line is naturally choosing to present in London, a city energized and electrified by the strength of a youth privy to experimentation and free in their own style. On this, Donatella noted backstage: “I think that youth culture starts here. The British have more courage than others.”
British youth are unparalleled when it comes to yielding styles as unexpected as they are, well, stylish. This uniquely London breed of intrepid exuberance is just what Donatella infused into her designs for Fall/Winter 2017-2018. In this vein can be found sporty clothes that are a bit nonsensical in shades of pink and neon blue, all with crimped hair on top. Since this is Versace, it’s no surprise to see urban silhouettes brought to the next level by a surprising amount of glamour. In an entirely leather-made outfit, Bella Hadid incarnates this inspiration – with an enveloping bomber and rounded sleeves and a pair of very low-cut leather pants, she presents a combative but sensual look, dark and powerful.
