Just as Alexandre Dumas made us travel to Holland in search of the Black Tulip, today we find ourselves in New York, at Rockefeller Plaza, where one of the five copies of Tulips is featured. This work of art by Jeff Koons is on auction tonight at Christie’s alongside works by Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

A monumental piece about two meters high, it is one of the most complex ever undertaken by the artist. It mixes seven colors, but using a set of mirrors to reflect them, it creates a color variety worthy of the Pantone Color Matching System. Belonging to the Celebration series and started by Jeff Koons in 1994, it pays tribute to the pleasures of childhood. It is a child’s toy, but reserved for adults, that Christie’s will auctioned tonight.
