Ten years ago, N°5 was a perfume for a woman – played by Nicole Kidman – a woman who’d decided to liberate herself from the constraints of reality. Living high up in a dreamy ideal, she renounced this desire and poetically came back to reality. Today, through the lens of Luhrmann, this woman, her skin sensualized with a touch of N°5, is deciding to listen to her heart. She’s a modern woman and she knows it: free, she is the only one in charge of her personal choices. But this campaign tells us the story of a struggle: in a hectic life where family, career, and love can sometimes butt heads, they must find an equilibrium amongst themselves when she refuses to let any of them go.
And Gisele knows it: model, actress, mother, philanthropist, and businesswoman, she can pull it off. Wearing clothing from the Dubai collection, the Brazilian marvelously incarnates the new essence of a woman in this first quarter of the century. When she’s on the beach, in contact with the ocean, it’s a moment of contemplation. What is she contemplating? Her children, her monstrous ambition, and at the same time, she can take pride in having conquered her true vocation: she’s living out a romance. In a film without any dialogue or words, Lo-Fang and his remake of “You’re the One that I Want” are the pillar of a veritable philosophy. Ten years later, the Chanel woman has chosen love.
