To Associate the Premium Universe with the Family, BMW Presents its New 2 Series Active Tourer

In the world of high-end, it is difficult to design family models while retaining an ounce of elegance and refinement. BMW is one of the few manufacturers still offering a minivan in their range, with this second generation of the 2 Series Active Tourer being unveiled today.

In addition to its more modern aesthetic with redesigned front and rear lights, rims ranging from 16 to 19 inches as well as a larger grille, meeting the new codes of the propeller firm, it also takes advantage of its renewal to grow in order to benefit its occupants. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is now 4.38 meters long (+ 3.2 cm compared to the previous generation), 1.82 meters wide (+ 2.4 cm) and 1.58 meters high ( + 2 cm). The wheelbase, however, remains unchanged and rises to 2.67 meters.

If the exterior has changed only partially, the interior does it drastically. The interior is in fact reminiscent of the iX, with this curved digital panel that encompasses the 10.25-inch dashboard as well as the 10.7-inch center display. The car receives the iDrive 8 operating system with the ability to receive remote updates and activate options even after purchasing the vehicle.

BMW specifies that the new 2 Series Active Tourer is more welcoming thanks to a sliding bench seat which increases the load capacity of the boot. This can slide 13cm forward to release an additional 90 liters. The volume can thus go from 470 liters to 1,455 liters once the rear seat is folded down.

All engines are mated to the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. At launch, and from February 2022, customers will be able to choose between two petrol versions of 136 and 170 horsepower, while a diesel version of 150 horsepower will also be available in the catalog. BMW will launch a plug-in hybrid powertrain next summer. This is the BMW 230e x Drive Active Tourer which is expected to develop no less than 292 horsepower and a decent range exceeding 60 kilometers in all electric.

The new 2 Series Active Tourer will come standard with cruise control, lane departure warning and collision warning. The parking assistant with reversing camera is also present. Prices start from 34,200 euros for the 136-horsepower petrol version with the entry-level finish called “Active Tourer”. For diesel, it will take 2,200 euros more.

Unlike the previous generation, there will be no seven-seater version, due to poorer commercial performance than the five-seater version. Large families will have no other choice but to orient themselves on the SUV of the range, namely the X5 and X7, or to go to Mercedes which offers a “small” SUV more accessible with seven seats, namely the GLB.
