Zenith launched their new timepiece made for sailing enthusiasts both novice and experienced. Imagined to accompany the British team led by Sir Ben Ainslie for the next America’s Cup-Zenith, the Chronomaster El Primero Sport Land Rover BAR is composed around a black rubber bracelet made with carbon fiber, a material used for various parts of the Land Rover BAR team’s boat. This high performance watch on water and land alike unites the best of Swiss innovation and technology with a touch of creative British design.

The British team Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR), formed by Sir Ben Ainslie in 2014 in the presence of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, can boast about being four-time Olympic gold medalists and winner of the 34th America’s Cup. In 2017, the objective is clear: compete for Great Britain and bring back the famous silver ewer, the oldest international sporting trophy in the world first introduced in British waters 165 years ago.

One of the most precise watch series in the world with 36,000 cycles per hour, Zenith is contributing to its illustrious heritage and 2,333 watchmaking prizes won over the course of the last century and a half. Here, with the famous automatic chronograph caliber in tow, El Primero 400 B benefits from a column wheel that makes it even more reliable. A brand new style that’s waterproof up to 200 meters, the background also displays Sir Ben Ainslie’s lucky number 3. While the Chronomaster El Primero Sport Land Rover BAR is primarily for professional use, Zenith is still putting up 250 pieces for sale that are equipped with the legendary El Primero movement, ticking along steadily to the rhythm of 36,000 cycles per hour.
