summer season 2022 starts with both iconic and bold Men’s perfumes ; definitely sophisticated juices here selected by Icon-Icon.
Men’s perfumes : the iconic scents
Dressing up your wake with memorable scents, This is what Icon-Icon offers with this selection of fragrances for men. A selection that opens with the revered perfumes of the finest French luxury houses.
Beginning with the iconic men perfume from Maison Hermès. A perfume made in 2006 by Jean-Claude Ellena – Terre d’Hermès has inspired a new vision of masculinity.
Neither sweet nor peppery. Terre d’Hermès perfume is woody and spicy. And that’s where it gets its strength. When Jean-Claude Ellena was asked to create a new fragrance, the Hermès nose sought to combine the authenticity and emotion of such a house.
He will then draw on the literature of Jean Giono for the balance of the man, in the 21st century. Simple and complicated at the same time, tender and determined, dreamer with feet on the ground” explains Jean-Claude Ellena
The other absolute house of French elegance is of course Chanel. And when it comes to men’s perfume, the house ofCoco Chanelhas created the most sensual scents. As early as 1955, Coco Chanel captured the elegance and ardour of the men who shared her life in Pour Monsieur by Chanel.
Created by nose Henri Robert and reinterpreted in 1991 by Jacques Polge, it gives to smell the charisma of Boy Capel, the Grand Duke Dimitri Pavlovitch and the Duke of Westminster. Three men with a natural and discreet elegance, without artifice, who cultivate the art of inner distinction. Men of heart and mind”, as Chanel defines it.
Allure home sport by chanel is fresh and reinvigorating. An eau that dresses the man’s wake with a couture, graphic and powerful allure – the signature of the Chanel style.
A perfume hinged on sicilian mandarine, Calabrian bergamot and coriander from the Caucasus. An airy and define by chanel codes perfume.
But the most iconic perfume of the house is le Bleu de Chanel. In 2010, the laboratories of the House of Chanel published a fragrance of freedom: Bleu de Chanel, an eau like an ode to the freedom to improvise, composed for a masculine spirit who, at every step, writes the script of his life. Embodied by the dashing and late Gaspard Ulliel, it is without doubt one of the most worn and loved perfumes of our time!
The house of Dior also wrote, with Dior Homme Sport, an olfactory composition that marked the era. In 2022, the sensual and woody-spicy signature of Dior Homme Sport is reinvented in a jet of explosive and immediately recognizable notes.
An interpretation signed by Dior’s regular Perfumer-Creator, François Demachy: “I rethought the signature freshness of Dior Homme Sport so that it grips like a boxer’s uppercut […] It is a resolutely new composition, revisited with the idea of casual elegance. Warm, amber notes, which coat the personality with spices and the sensual substance of woody notes!
L’Homme Eau de Parfum by Yves Saint Laurent is the epitome of a sensual and magnetic fragrance for men. And it is in the juice that the sophisticated vision of male seduction is expressed. Created in 2006 by the couturier, the fragrance carries in its composition the assurance of a seductive and radiant man.
Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1965, Habit rouge has been the first oriental perfume for men. Inspired by the wake of a horseman during a ride in Rambouillet, this complex and audacious composition, with vanilla notes, upsets the codes of perfumery.
Orange, lime bergamot and neroli are recognisable from the first notes. But, versatile and surprising, Habit Rouge is never the same, sometimes revealing its leathery airs, its spicy scents, its powdery facet, vanilla or patchouli.
Louis Vuitton’s recent return to high perfumery was a success. The latest men’s fragrance from the house, Louis Vuitton Imagination, is one of the best men’s fragrances of the season.
Louis Vuitton’s latest fragrance takes shape in a green watery juice. Behind this dreamy and panache-filled concoction is the house’s resident nose, Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. The opera of Imagination is soothed by the base notes of Chinese black tea, guaiac wood, olibanum and, above all, Ambroxan – “an exceptional substance, dosed here in unreasonable proportions”, according to Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud.
What would a men’s fragrance special be without Jean Paul Gaultier Le Mâle? The iconic men’s fragrance returns in a Gaultier Le Mâle Pride version – the scent imagined by Francis Kurkdjian in 1995, this time in a bottle embossed with the Rainbow flag. Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Mâle is indeed a fragrance composed around an oriental-fern duo – built on contrasts, it is absolutely irresistible. Without concession!
Men’s Fragrance Special: Must-haves and New Releases
Behind some of the most popular fragrances in perfumery, the house of Bvlgari introduces this year a new opus called Gemme Orom de Bvlgari. A vanilla amber fragrance composed by perfumer Sophie Labbé. “It has a sensual olfactory signature that is both masculine and feminine thanks to the balance of bourbon vanilla and woody notes. It is inspired by the gemstone labradorite” as the nose specifies.
In concrete terms, Bvlgari’s Gemme Orom opens with notes of bourbon vanilla, leaving the fragrance to beat on a heart of Siamese benzoin.
With Lacoste L.12.12. Blanc Eau Fraîche, the Eau de Lacoste also echoes a woody and aromatic masculinity in a composition where virility meets tonicity…
For Him, Lacoste L.12.12. Blanc Eau Fraîche opens with a lively and invigorating note of Lemon zest that sets the tone. A trail of extreme freshness that continues around a note of Ginger… ” A spicy touch that recalls the Cardamom of the iconic LACOSTE L.12.12 Blanc Eau de Toilette. In the heart, a spring-like Lavender asserts the freshness of the fragrance. Oak Wood finishes off this trail with a modern and dynamic masculinity. A bright and energetic signature” as the Lacoste house notes.
At Kenzo, Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette Intense is the sign of serene masculinity. Inspired by the intensity of bamboo, the fragrance infuses the skin with the serenity of a marine breath. Signed by Quentin Bisch, the composition is based on the freshness of a marine accord; while rose berries at the top give way to an addictive accord blending fig wood and sandalwood!
Since 1996, Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani has been taking men’s perfumery to the ardour of marine notes. Created by Alberto Morillas and Annick Menardo, the fragrance plays with the top notes of lime, lemon, bergamot, jasmine, orange, tangerine and neroli… Leaving its composition to blossom on the heart notes around a bouquet of marine, Jasmine, Calone, Peach, Freesia, Cyclamen, Hyacinth, Violet, Rosemary, Coriander, Nutmeg, Rose and Mignonette…

New again is the Acqua di Parma x Forte_Forte fragrance, ‘Forte_Forte Loves Acqua di Parma’. A collaboration between two houses that are passionate about Italian craftsmanship and culture, and the typical atmospheres of the Italian countryside…
“There are many invisible threads that, like a precious fabric, unite us to forte_forte. A very personal idea of style, authentic and timeless, as well as a passion for Italian craftsmanship and beauty as a source of inspiration. The connection was immediate and natural. The fragrance ‘Forte_Forte Loves Acqua di Parma’ was born from the common desire to share the joy of a return to life and freedom, in symbiosis with the vibrant nature of the Italian Mediterranean. Emotions released by Mirto Di Panarea, the Blu Mediterraneo fragrance that Forte_Forte has interpreted with its sense of aesthetics, poetry and sensitivity,” describes Acqua di Parma.
Paco Rabanne’s Invictus fragrance is the most popular. It is inspired by the mythological figure of the athlete. “Invictus was born from the desire to talk about sport in an innovative way, by sublimating the social fantasy it represents. (…) Who hasn’t dreamed of entering an arena or a stadium, hearing their name chanted by the crowd and becoming an object of desire?” Paco Rabanne is asking this very question.
Offering a creamy sensuality, the Jimmy Choo Man Aqua fragrance bewitches around a casual yet elegant composition. A dynamic composition with a carnal sense! A bewitching trail with leathery, fresh, aromatic and woody accents!
For those who prefer fruity scents that inspire summer and the shores of the Andalusian Mediterranean – Roger et Gallet Bois d’Orange Eau Parfumée captures the fragrant air of these regions! An olfactory pyramid that brings out the freshness around mandarin, basil and lemon verbena, on a luminous and solar floral heart. A woody, warm and divinely airy eau de toilette…

With bright citrus notes, Kologne Shield of Protection envelops the body with a touch of freshness.
An evocative name that embraces Kilian Hennessy’s vision. He confides: “Since a perfume is basically like a film, I think that there is no great film without a great script, and I think the same thing about perfume, that there is no great perfume without a great story, which is why when I created my brand, I didn’t want to create a brand where the perfumes would be called Patchouli, Amber or Rose. But if my perfume is called Rose, I needed a script that I could work with the perfumer. “
A Cologne reinvented by the nose Calice Becker, as an orchestration of scents that opens with invigorating notes of green mandarin, bitter orange and mint leading to a heart of rosemary and neroli… ” A woody trail builds around cedar, cashmeran and a unique “sap” accord of plant notes. A sensual scent imagined by perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer based on an aphrodisiac formula written in the 18th century by Jean-Claude-Adrien Helvetius, physician to Louis XV and member of the Royal Academy of Sciences.
“The special feature of this formula is a completely new raw material: cascarilla. This dried bark with spicy notes, known for centuries for its therapeutic virtues, gives off a pleasant, musky scent when burned. This rare material, which is rarely used in modern perfumery, gives our love potion its originality,” explains Sous le Manteau Paris.

Lempicka Homme Green Lover… This is a fragrance for men imagined in 2019 by Maïa Lernout.
