Shocking Rose And Floral Bust: Schiaparelli’s Stylistic Grammar
For the upcoming summer season, Daniel Roseberry recalled Schiaparelli’s iconic stylistic grammar around a solar and sculptural collection – a collection celebrating extravagance and the beauty of craftsmanship!
Amusing and entertaining, rather than disturbing – the Schiaparelli Spring / Summer 2022 collection is indeed in the very vision of the founder, Elsa Schiaparelli. We thus find distilled here and there, its funny pierced hats, an elegant and daring zest of surrealism, and above all, the interest for the body specific to this house.
This is the spirit of the first Schiaparelli collection, in line with the idea of a sporty and active woman, which can easily be deciphered in the staging of the collection. But where Schiap ’grammar is even more prominent is in the 2022 version of the skeleton dress, in crisp white.
Emphasizing the curves of the body, to, in trompe l’oeil, show the idea of the human skeleton. An idea coined by a great friend of Elsa Schiaparelli, the painter Salvador Dali: “Dear Elsa, I love the idea of bones on the outside HUGE (…)”
The other flagship grammar of the house is the soft use of this Shocking Rose, on a sculptural ensemble whose bust gives the chest the poetic shape of two flowers. Couture and art have rarely been done so well!
