Since their founding in 1961, Courrèges has been offering us timeless vogue, where architecture, philosophy, and couture intertwine. Their designer sounds off: “my style goes with a silhouette, a way to move in life”. Wearing Courrèges is more than just following a fashion; it is affirming a veritable allure and way of life.
Since February 4th, their Spring/Summer 2013 Millesime collection has been captivating and enthralling on the second floor of Paris’ Galeries Lafayette department store. The brand has set up shop in a pop-up space with graphical, modern, and resolutely purified accents, almost reviving the spirit of André Courrèges himself, dubbed “Le Corbusier of Haute Couture”.
All the classic styles are brought back, mixed with new pieces and designs: the famed trapeze dresses and tunics, the vinyl blouse and mini-skirts, the very essence of the brand’s spirit, are all present and accounted for. Their iconic tote bag has also been re-released in two reworked formats sporting the original logo. Their mythical sunglasses have been revisited, this year issued from a collaboration with designer Alain Mikli. Happy and cheerful, this pop-up shop boasts a colorful panorama that oscillates between baby chick yellow, poppy red, lagoon blue, and white, a color near and dear to the designer’s heart. The finished product makes for an eternal harmony of elegance, abstraction, and cosmic desire.
