At the Shanghai Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz and Moncler unveiled an unprecedented version of the iconic G-Class, named Project G-Class Past II Future.

Celebrating the 45th anniversary of the emblematic model, this collaboration marks the union of automotive design and fashion under the direction of Nigo, the artistic director of Kenzo and Human Made. Inspired by the aesthetics of the 90s, Nigo crafted a bold interpretation where the DNA of the G-Class meets Moncler’s quilted universe.
The Project G-Class Past II Future stands out with a quilted rear section, evoking the lines of an iconic puffer jacket — a visual signature of Moncler. The combination of olive green, gray, black, and gold accents enhances the vehicle’s robust elegance. Collector’s details, such as a gold gas can or a co-branded spare wheel, reinforce the idea of a unique piece. The whole ensemble is topped off with an exclusive sound system in a “boombox” style — a nod to both retro and contemporary vibes!
While the concept car showcased during the show remains one of a kind, Mercedes-Benz announced the release of a limited edition of 20 numbered units… A rare piece indeed for enthusiasts and collectors, paying homage to tradition while looking towards the future.
This partnership between Moncler and Mercedes-Benz is part of the event The City of Genius, a large-scale project spanning over 30,000 square meters in Shanghai. Moncler turned this event into a true creativity lab, bringing together artists, designers, and influential figures such as A$AP Rocky, Donald Glover, and Hiroshi Fujiwara. Visitors discovered a dozen installations and performances blending fashion, technology, and artistic visions.
And there’s more… This collaboration will also extend to a capsule ready-to-wear collection to be revealed in April 2025. Merging Moncler’s technical and avant-garde world with Mercedes-Benz’s timeless spirit, this unisex collection promises to offer unique pieces!
