The two new Louis Vuitton bags are named W and Capucines! Renewing the monogram’s mythical layout, the perfection of tradition is here contiguous to the soberness of luxurious leather. A tote-esque W bag, with its never-before-seen trapeze form; a Capucines bag, from the name of the Parisian street where the trunkmaker opened its first store in 1854 to incarnate timeless femininity. On that note, the free-spiritedness, talent, and boldness that Michelle Williams have exhibited in the brand’s eyes drove them to turn her into an icon of modern glamour. Accustomed to Oscar nominations, a little bit less to the fashion world, this is the first time that Michelle Williams, introduced to the public in 2005’s “Brokeback Mountain” has joined the rank of muses. For Louis Vuitton, the young woman poses and feigns leaving her thoughts on her labeled bag. She who incarnated Marilyn in the Simon Curtis biopic sports a messy boy cut, a porcelain complexion, and very purple lips…

It’s clear right away that Marc Jacobs is pushing his idea of super-femininity rebelliously further: sensual, uninhibited, and glamorous. Michelle Williams says she worked on playing a Louis Vuitton woman just like she prepares for a film role: with allure and depth. To conclude this partnership, Louis Vuitton called on the lens of a great photographer, Peter Lindbergh. As per usual, he made the photos’ ambiance something very modest, almost apocalyptic as the negative becomes the definitive image. Through a contrast as simple as it is remarkable, the photographer is able to express the beauty and charm of this spirit. It’s an ode to the art of traveling in the 50s, like a memory of the future.
