Already well known for its ultra-limited edition collaboration with Hermès, the camera manufacturer Leica has joined with British designer Paul Smith to give us a limited edition of 1,500 copies of its compact X2.
Paul Smith’s passion for photography is well known, from his first photographs at age 11 to the advertising campaigns of his fashion house that were shot exclusively by the designer. As he has explained, “[The] camera is a spontaneous visual diary”, and his design has included the colorful stripes that made his brand famous.
Without sacrificing anything in regards to the technological prowess of the brand’s new model, Paul Smith gives it an extravagant twist that contrasts with rigorous German temperance at Leica.
