For Hublot, 2017 is the time for new innovations and world firsts. First comes an exclusive all-sapphire concept. On the legendary Big Bang model, the transparent case allows one to see all the magnificence of the watch’s body. In place of colors, an opera of tonalities, gears, and mysterious elements form the basis of the timepiece’s aesthetics – in other words, visible/invisible. By today fusing these metals with sapphire to create a blue version of the Big Bang case, Hublot has come out with a world first: the first time that sapphire has taken on this color in watchmaking. A highlight mark, index, Arab numerals, and hour/minute hands appear in perfectly matching shades on the sapphire color and reveal the contrast of the Unico HUB124 manufacturer’s movement, including its column wheel on the dial side. The Big Bang will also reveal these sublime details in an exclusive series of just 250 red sapphire pieces.

At Baselworld, Hublot also introduced an exceptional style imagined in collaboration with Ferrari. The 70th anniversary of the Formula 1 brand brought the watchmaking world one of the first collaborations of this type for a watch. “Designed by Ferrari, crafted by Hublot”. The new Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph is anchored in a dual inspiration, that of Ferrari’s genetics – resistance, performance, aesthetics, and lightness – fused with those of Hublot. Imagined and designed at Ferrari under the auspices of Flavio Manzoni, Head of Design for the Italian brand, the same creative processes as those used to develop a new sports car were applied here. Everything is considered a moving part, the watch’s motor – no element is left to chance. Using Ferrari’s rigorous studies, Hublot then brought its engineering abilities into play to bring these technical and aesthetic concepts to life. The result can be seen with this modular case body composed of three parts – skeleton frame, container, background: this is a never-before-seen design characterized by its airborne and alveolar structures. The incredibly sleek Techframe Ferrari marks a new era in Ferrari and Hublot’s partnership and is available in three styles: King Gold, PEEK carbon, and titanium, each in only 70 copies.

Finally, a collaboration with Depeche Mode highlights the contemporary nature of Hublot. Initiated in 2010, this charitable undertaking for the organization Charity:Water relaunches the partnership between the legendary band and the iconic brand and has yielded a new limited edition Depeche Mode watch. A “watch for water” introduced in Baselworld, the new Big Bang Depeche Mode watch was sculpted with a 45mm ceramic case on which millions of pyramids were engraved right down to the push buttons, the crown, and the indexes. The watch is equipped with a soft leather bracelet on which a detachable nailed cuff can be added. With only 250 copies released, the Big Bang Unico Depeche Mode sports the name of Depeche Mode’s Global Spirit Tour while the emblematic Charity:Water jerrycan on sapphire glass reveals the HUB1242 movement. This is a sublime piece for a great cause.
