Rei Kawakubo, the revered founder of Comme des Garçons, is inaugurating a new collaboration: summoned by design house Hermès, the designer is reinterpreting the carré scarf by adding a touch of her signature “Garçon” style. “Rather than being guided by the idea of the scarf as it is worn, I became interested instead in the beautiful artworks that the designs on Hermès carrés represent.” 1
And that is how two scarf collections, “Noir et Blanc” and “Couleur” blossomed. The former includes five carré scarves, sold exclusively in New York, Tokyo, and Paris; the latter boasts six colored scarves, only available in London and Tokyo. From February onwards, Hermès fans everywhere will be able to pick a side; however, if they don’t act fast, they’ll be nothing left to pick from!
