Genesis G90 : The Limousine from South Korea

The world of luxury limousines is divided between three cars: the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. Other cars exist but have a lesser influence, such as Lexus and its LS for example. And in this universe, a new model is showing its face with the Genesis G90.

Before it was a brand, it was Hyundai’s flagship. Eventually, Genesis became a brand in its own right and the top-of-the-line firm of Hyundai, as Lexus is with Toyota in a way.

This model is no less than 5.28 meters long, which is the same size as a Mercedes S-Class with the long chassis and 4 centimeters shorter than a Bentley Flying Spur. There is also an extended version with a height of 5.47 meters and a huge wheelbase of 3.37 meters.

Inside, the environment is luxurious, with high quality materials and technologies at the level of German premium. The G90 also boasts some pretty nice technology, including a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen Hi-Fi system, an active noise reduction system to shut out outside noise, a fragrance diffuser, a 10.2-inch multimedia screen for each rear passenger and ventilated and massaging seats.

The car is equipped with rear wheel steering (they turn in the opposite direction up to 4 degrees at low speed and in the same direction up to 2 degrees at high speed) or an adjustable air suspension that automatically adapts to the roughness of the road.

Two engines will be available, one for the short version and one for the long wheelbase version. Of course, considering the proposed engines, the Genesis G90 should not be sold in France.

The “smallest” gets a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 380 horsepower and 530 Nm, which is sent to the rear wheels only or to all four wheels. The “Long Wheel Base” version will have the same V6, but in a 48V micro-hybrid version and with an electric compressor. The power of this last motorization was not communicated.

The Genesis G90 will be sold in Europe, but not in all markets. France should not be concerned, since Genesis is not even established there yet. The G90 will make its debut in Germany, the UK and Switzerland.
