What do they have in common besides extreme elegance? Geographic proximity. Erès, founded in 1968 by Irène Leroux, is located on Place de Madeleine just a hop skip and a jump away from Rue Saint Honoré, fiefdom of Parisian luxury and of the Hôtel Costes, opened in 1995 by Jean Louis Costes and recently classified as a historic monument. But these two decidedly young brands have different approaches. Whereas Erès observes a modern minimalism, the Hôtel Costes touts a baroque pompousness.
Combining technical mastery of fabrics and excellence of cuts, Valérie Delafosse, Erès’ creative director, has been able to tie together the souls of the two brands while keeping with the purity that accompanies the hotel’s emblematic colors composed by decorator Jacques Garcia: black of the most beautiful of Parisian nights, gold of days gone by, woodworking and subdued candlelight, and the famous “pourpe Costes” purple. These chromatic details are the backbone of the brands’ collaboration, each responding to the other with refinement to envelop the body in the building’s architecture just as much as in the architecture of the garment. An atmospheric perfection flows through this collaboration that consists of a one-piece and a two-piece swimsuit, exclusively for guests at the Hôtel Costes.
