Damiani & Borsalino: An Exceptional Collaboration for Damiani’s Centennial
In 2024, the Italian jewelry house Damiani is celebrating its 100th anniversary in grand style, with events and initiatives highlighting its craftsmanship throughout Italy and beyond. Among these is a collaboration between Damiani and another major name from Piedmont: Borsalino. These two emblematic houses, rooted in Italian tradition and artisanal excellence, have come together to create three models of Borsalino hats, adorned with precious pieces from Damiani’s Mimosa, Belle Époque, and Margherita collections.
A collaboration that truly celebrates Italian craftsmanship and heritage, as Mauro Baglietto, CEO of Borsalino, explains: “We never thought there would be a real demand for these jewelry hats. They were designed as a special way to be present at Milan Fashion Week and to tell the story of two leading Italian houses, active in the global luxury sector,” says Baglietto. “We may need to seriously consider creating these pieces for an elite audience eager to own such special and exclusive items.”
The design teams of Damiani and Borsalino worked together to achieve a perfect balance of color and style, merging jewelry lines with hat models. First, there’s the Nina cloche, with a retro style, which stands out with its elegant black color and is adorned with pieces from Damiani’s Belle Époque collection. Inspired by the joy of life typical of the period, the hatband is enhanced with a detail in white gold and diamonds, with two long side pendants that hang from the sides of the hat, reminiscent of the sparkle of precious earrings.
The Sophie fedora, a Borsalino staple, is paired with Damiani’s Mimosa collection, symbolizing the house’s extraordinary craftsmanship. The diamonds, finely arranged, seem scattered in an apparent harmonious chaos, blending stones of different sizes and cuts. The woody hue of the fedora matches perfectly with the rose gold chosen for the chain at the base of the crown, as well as with the sophisticated necklace of diamonds and Australian pearls, which here becomes an elegant hat cord.
Finally, the Borsalino Baseball model is offered in amethyst purple, enhanced by creations from Damiani’s Margherita collection. The hat’s crown is decorated with ten flowers in rose gold, brown diamonds, and amethysts of different sizes, forming a magnificent bouquet adorned with a brooch. This model perfectly illustrates the meeting of sporty spirit and luxury extravagance, transforming a casual hat into a true work of art.
