Simply just the color red makes everyone think of whom else than the shoe genius himself – Christian Louboutin. Nearly 20 years ago, the “Chausseur Star” Louboutin decided to paint red nail polish on the black soles of a pair of women’s shoes and “immediately, the shoe came back to life. It is a symbol of love, of blood, of passion.”
In 2004, the Pigalle was launched in Paris and since then, numerous celebrities and fashion lovers alike, began a huge craze over the shiny red-bottomed shoes. Mr. Louboutin says, “The design that encapsulates [his] career is the Pigalle, a low-cut, high-heeled pump. It’s so subtle in that it adds something sexy to the body, but you don’t immediately realize that it’s the shoe that’s making the difference.”
In honor of Christian Louboutin’s career, now until July 9th, The London Design Museum is presenting an exhibition showcasing twenty years of work revealing his creativity and theatricality of his shoe designs. This is an absolute must-see, as it averages 900 visitors daily, which is the highest ever for the Design Museum! Do not miss out on this shoe-gazing journey of grand style, artistry and beauty!
