Graphic summer sandals are the newest arrival in the galaxy of Chanel’s two-tone shoes.

For its Spring/Summer 2013 accessory collection, Chanel reinvented its famous two-tone shoe. Neon-colored lambskin leather sandals with a self-avowed geometric spirit are what the 2 “C” brand is proposing as they interpret the big trend for Spring/Summer 2013, graphic style, in their own way.

Sometimes vertical, sometimes horizontal, the stripe perfectly espouses the curves of the feet. The stripe also brings with it a striking optical effect; it seems elusive, in perpetual movement. Often released in black and white, here the contrast is softened by the choice of colors: this pair of shoes is available in white and red or in black and blue.

Chanel knows what it’s doing. Mademoiselle Coco, for whom “a woman with good shoes is never ugly”, already understood the importance that needed to be given to women’s shoes. In 1957, heavily influenced by the male wardrobe, she created her first two-tone pump that left nothing up to chance. “The black, slightly square end shortens the foot, the beige elongates the leg,” explains shoemaker Massaro, a brand founded in 1894 but under the auspices of Chanel since 2002. Karl Lagerfeld is remaining loyal to the brand’s spirit and signing off on a visually energetic creation, worthy of the greatest of (optical) illusions!
