Cannes’ Festival: A new Golden Palm For the 75th edition

To honour the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, Chopard has designed a new Palme d’Or in pink quartz and diamonds.

Cannes’ Film Festival: A golden Palme even more glamor

The galaxy’s most glamorous film festival returns in its usual format from May 17 to 28, 2022. And this edition, whose Jury is chaired by Vincent Lindon, marks its 75th anniversary!

If the Cannes Film Festival is unveiled in its entirety here, the Cannes Film Festival has long been attracting the most solar personalities of fashion and cinema for a week of whimsical festivities.

But the holy grail of the Cannes Film Festival, whose history is detailed here, is indeed the Palme d’Or. Awarded since 1997, and carved by the prestigious Chopard House, the most coveted trophy of the cinema is reinvented for the occasion.

If the emblematic Palme of the Festival and of Cannes remains, it is mounted on a hypnotising base of pink quartz that it presents itself!

Two leaflets set with diamonds complete this new Golden Palme, whose famous jeweler Chopard says: “On one of the leaflets, 75 inlaid diamonds will symbolize the Festival’s jubilee, while on the other, 25 diamonds will immortalize the quarter-century partnership with Chopard – a double celebration in unison.”

Why pink quartz? Chopard explains the symbolism best: “In Greek mythology, this powdered pink gem, delicately ribbed, is said to have been born from the very hands of Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love. Quartz, derived from the Greek word ‘krustallos’ which means ‘ice’, would be the ice of the gods. The rose quartz was chosen to symbolize the unconditional love that has united the Festival with the cinema and Chopard with the Festival since 1997.”
