This year, the perfume Paris is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Just for the occasion, top model Anja Rubik has become their new face, using her beauty to celebrate the iron lady that watches over the city that was so dear to Yves Saint-Laurent.

The Hedi Slimane era has offered Anja Rubik the chance to incarnate the scent Paris. Her sculptural beauty is precisely the kind that fascinated Yves Saint-Laurent once upon a time.

In 1983, the brand’s nose Sophia Grojsman created Paris. She sought to capture the odor of Paris’ lights, of a setting sun coloring the sky a twilight mauve. As if touched by the latter, this eau de toilette takes on its tone. Figurehead of the world of International Flavors and Fragrances, Sophia Grojsman likes to work with rose water; perhaps this is why this elixir is composed with spiced roses and violets with a woody background. She boldly put it into a softly angled bottle, an olfactory homage to the capital and all of its women in love, so desired by the designer. Because they’re the ones that Yves Saint-Laurent aims to celebrate: those who enchant the heart to the point of being “a pretext to fulfill one’s dream”. Highly renowned, this perfume is also charming, offering the women it dresses “la vie en rose”, just like the couturier wanted. A myth was born.

This fragrance quickly became emblematic. A sensual and voluptuous classic that caresses the skin like a hand stroking a face. Comforting, soft, it’s like salvation for a cheeky, playful woman aka a “Rive Gauche” one.

Thirty years later, this liquid has remained unchanged. To incarnate this bodily adornment’s durability, the brand has called out to a top model who’s face needs no introduction: Anja Rubik. This new muse’s sparkling eyes and Nordic facial structure alone symbolize the new order of things at Saint-Laurent.
