Canaletto, whose real name is Giovanni Antonio Canal (1697-1768), is the most famous of the Venetian vedutisti of the XVIII century. To present this extraordinary painter from a new angle, to deepen his personality and his art in the Venetian context was certainly not an easy challenge. The Maillol museum pays homage to him with, under the high patronage of the City of Venice and for the first time, an exhibition exclusively devoted to Canaletto in Venice.
