Balmain likes to flaunt that there are no standards: “Women aren’t just coat racks, they have character!” Spring/Summer 2016 was the perfect occasion for the brand’s creative director to call on his Balmain Army to prove it. Doutzen Kroes, Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Allesandra Ambrosio, and Kendall Jenner… all of them have incarnated the face of Balmain. As for Olivier Rousteing, through numerous fabrics and cuts he’s once more highlighted the creativity taking place within the Parisian fashion house.
He’s open to anything when it’s a question of rehabilitating a modest, stripped-down look. Original, carnal, and insolent pieces are the gateway to next season at Balmain. Cut in silk, lace, hairnet, or leather in new proportions, the basics are getting a makeover. The proof is the spencer that is here deployed in a new graphic cropped version – highly texturized, a bit discreet and with a draping effect that opens the bust to create a look for a conquering and sexy woman. This fearless glamazon will use sexiness as the baseline for her wardrobe next season.
