Is Carven’s zig zag shirt too well-behaved? That’s not what Guillaume Henry, creative director for the brand, thinks: “You have to play with the rules of harshness and consistency by preserving its fragility and revealing the body’s more delicate attachments, ankles, wrists… The unspoken is the most infernal.” he asserts.

Even buttoned up to the collar, the light silk blouse won’t be so easily forgotten: it’s zig zag print bestows it with a touch of pizzazz, bringing out both a savage and a tame side at the same time. Carven‘s zig zag is dual-natured: modest and daring, classic and new, a safe bet but always youthful.

Its diverse ambassadors marvelously illustrate this duality: whether it’s Jessica Alba using it to create a preppy look, Beyonce Knowles pairing it into a pink, girly outfit, or French actress Bérénice Bejo from The Artist wearing it with a modest black skirt, the zig zag shirt brings both lightness and luster to this summer’s collections.

“My work,” confides Guillaume Henry, “is to enchant the everyday”: mission accomplished.
