For Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2013 campaign, the trench coat is prominently displayed on the shoulders of a modern day Romeo, the mini-Beckham himself, complete with an energetic and contagiously optimistic smile.
Shot by Mario Testino, renowned photographer and longtime friend of the Beckham couple, Romeo’s pose is so natural that you might just start believing in the moment that Burberry’s trying to capture yourself.
For the bonbon version of the trench coat, a certain ardor is portrayed by Cara Delevingne and her gaze, frozen by the camera. A bit less joyous, the ad spot animates the trench coat on Miss Delevingne in the midst of a nature that revels in her strength. Iconographically enchanting.
