Xbox by Gucci: A Collector’s Box Set

Gucci and Xbox’s double anniversary is being celebrated through the creation of a genuine collector’s item; Xbox by Gucci’s GG engraved console, delivered in an iconic Gucci trunk.

Xbox by Gucci: 100 Collector’s Pieces

2021 marks the year of a double anniversary; that of Gucci’s 100 year jubilee and that of Xbox, celebrating its 20th jubilee. The opportunity to reiterate its passion and engagement with the avant-garde and popular culture was thus seized by Gucci; the house has released a collaborative effort with Xbox, under the form of a completely original console, engraved with Gucci’s signature GG monogram. Though it once referenced the brand founder Guccio Gucci’s initials, here it stands for Good Game, a fair play gaming native interjection.

The house stated that it “saw in Xbox the ideal partner; a company whose mission is to bring joy through gaming to the world’s three billion gamers. This meeting point between technology and tradition, between Gucci’s aesthetic and poetic wealth and Xbox’s pure and elegant functionality perfectly respresents Gucci’s will of blending time periods and lexicons.”

Basking in Alessandro Michele’s pop and vintage aesthetic, the Gucci trunk that accompanies the Xbox is also sealed by one of the brand’s signatures, the red and blue Web stripe, a link to Gucci’s first identity, established in 1921 by Guccio Gucci as a practical and luxurious luggage brand.

A true collector’s object, the Xbox by Gucci console is released in a very limited edition, with only 100 pieces being made.

The box set is available on Gucci’s website, as well as in select Gucci stores; Wooster in New York, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Moliere Palacio de Hierro in Mexico City, SKP in Beijing, Shibuya Parco in Tokyo as well as in the pop ups specially opened for the occasion: the Gucci Circolo in London, Berlin and Milan.
