Fashion for Donatella is a weapon that she intends to put in the hands of womankind. This all-or-nothing personality seeks glamour, sensuality, and liberty in her creation. Theatrical and very rock’n’roll in her attitude, it is in this same vein that she’s releasing the eyewear collection Icon Stones. Dedicated to the immense legacy of the brand founded by her brother in 1978, the line goes back on Italian glam design. Aesthetic codes that have since become iconic are now being revisited in an effective form: resolutely contemporary, these glasses are made of supple and sober lines while the shapes are more butterfly or oversize. As sunglasses or regular ones, these Icon Stones pieces are just as voluptuous and precious as the jewelry from the fashion line that they’re inspired by. Through a number of uniquely precious details, the label mixes an extreme femininity with a daring game of contrasts, made to provoke.
And who better than Kate Moss to incarnate this rebellious sensuality? Soon to be 39, this stick-thin model remains one of the greatest; her legend seems just as durable as that of an icon: a savage, sexy icon with a sort of insouciant, fatal insolence, in short, the icon or the face of an era. Under the creative direction of Giovanni Bianco, Kate poses with her telltale pout before the lens of Mert Atlas and Marcus Piggott. Just for the occasion, she’s going back to her teenage brunette look circa ’92. On her nose, a pair of Icon Stones: the temples are brought to the next level by the Versace Medusa motif, but this time, it’s adorned with 132 crystals and stuck onto the temples’ exterior no less than three times. This small detail is part of an extreme refinement, destined to become legendary.
