Top model Iselin Steiro was captured by photographer Nathaniel Goldberg for the press campaign. The clothes take inspiration for their lines from a collection traced from the brand’s archives. 1929: Lolsa Prusac, to whom we owe the idea of silk carré scarves, proposed that the nascent sports of the day be honored. In addition to swimming and golf, the Polish fashion designer decided to launch a line of clothing that would be entirely dedicated to skiing. 2013: from the archives, Christophe Lemaire’s team has exhumed the traces of this first ski line and decided to update it to be in line with the times. It’s even more fitting with Hermès’ theme this year, “Chic, le sport”. With the same intentions as 84 years ago, the brand on 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré has thought up products that are first and foremost just as technical as they are stylish.
When the ageless refinement of Hermès adapts to the elegant, restrained aesthetics of that era, the result borders on excellence. A padded, hooded parka made of mustard yellow canvas, printed silk scarves, pants with suspenders made of impermeable veal leather, cashmere knits, or a turtleneck sweater made of second skin cashmere. But the piece that evokes the most emotion is a blouse in stretched, laminated canvas with chestnut-colored leather finishings in a chalk white color. Hermès is bringing ultra-chic to the slopes with this ski collection. Goggles and a helmet are also redone in a flawlessly impermeable leather. To create this marvelous marriage of allure and technical craftsmanship, the brand called out to a technical advisor, a mountain guide – the consulting firm that equips the Ecole de ski français. This is how their leather manages to resist UV rays and snow, with a lining that breathes and insulates and water-proof zippers…
