It’s already been two seasons since the Liberty print took over the runways on bags, shoes, dresses, and pants in chic, minimalist, pastoral, and needlepoint versions. But this isn’t about kitsch, retro, hippy flower power mumbo jumbo; this reinterpretation of the Liberty motif by Levi’s is resolutely contemporary.
The new never-before-seen ready-to-wear collection by the classic American brand is proposing an artistic mix and match by updating this print by a famous British brand. Somewhere between heritage and modernity, all-American style comes together with the British universe to create a fifteen piece unique ensemble of everything from bustiers to jackets in passing by shorts. Just for the occasion, Levi’s is dusting off its essential 501 yoke shorts, the Trucker jacket, and their skinny boyfriend jeans just to modernize and perfect them. This is how Liberty Design Studio came onto the scene. Two never-before-seen prints were specially created for this collaboration: one print dubbed Carlin – a subtle nod to Jenny Carlin, designer at Levi’s – and the Kerr Bandana inspired by bandana motifs from the 40s. Laid back and very feminine all at the same time, our silhouettes are saying yes to the arrival of spring in our wardrobes.
The X Liberty collection will be available starting in April in the brand’s cult classic Carnaby Street boutique in London, before becoming available online and in Levi’s stores the world over in May.
