In this Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Christopher Bailey chose to honor famed writer Bruce Chatwin, a globetrotter-cum-acclaimed author renowned for his travel narratives including “I always wanted to go to Patagonia” – the birth of a writer. Dubbed “Book Covers & Bruce Chatwin”, the Burberry Prorsum summer 2015 collection redesigns the silhouette of the Burberry man: cooler, more relaxed, and last but not least, sensually adventurous.
Bags, leather jackets, and trench coats are labeled with the words Adventure or Exploration. It’s an invitation to expatriation in the purest traditions of the British brand. “The world is changing so quickly that it’s even more important to reflect on history and heritage,” declared Bailey. And so, the Burberry Mill woven gabardine is decked out in lively and fascinating colors: dark blue, sea green, prune, olive green, or green of yesteryear; with the charm of poetry and a sense of detail, the trenchcoat unveils a new attitude. Colorful, alive, and indubitably imaged, the trenchcoat in all its modernity is worn open at the waist. Without fail, Bailey’s applied nonchalance turns the icon into a trend that’s inextricable from next season.
