Swiss watchmaker OMEGA has bequeathed the members of Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) with an ultra-athletic timepiece on their quest for the America’s Cup. Inspired by the world of marine navigation, made for ocean runners, the OMEGA Seamaster Diver ETNZ Limited Edition watch will accompany the team starting on the 4th of July – when the most disputed race in the world will begin in San Francisco.

The bottom perimeter is engraved with: “Challenge for the 34th America’s Cup”.

Its powerful casing, made of 44 mm of polished and brushed stainless steel, is mounted on a black rubber bracelet. Its unidirectionally-turning bezel in matt ceramic makes up the perimeter of a dial that offers absolute precision: the hours, minutes, and seconds are marked. Traversed by a red hand, it sports, amongst other things, a countdown timer starting five minutes before take-off…

Driven by a Co-Axial 3330 caliber, animated by a Si14 silicon spiral, this timepiece is also automatically rewinding. But that’s not all. Included for the most adventurous among us is a helium valve, a calendar number corrector, and a white Super LumiNova to facilitate reading the time underwater. It is also for this reason that the watch is waterproof up to 30 bars (300 meters) and that the special edition box includes an interchangeable stainless steel diving bracelet. With the contrast created by the blue halo that surrounds the faceted hands and the green light emitted by the minute hand and a spot on the diving bezel, divers will be able to know just how much time they’ve been under for.

The only catch: it’s only available in 2013 copies…
