Ritz Paris Auction with Artcurial to be held on September 25, 26, and 27 – an exceptional auction offering the perfect opportunity for fashion and design enthusiasts to acquire a piece of the legend!
Ritz Paris Auction with Artcurial: Fashion, Design, and French Art of Living
The Ritz Paris, the ultimate symbol of French elegance and luxury, is about to offer refinement lovers a rare opportunity. At the end of September, this legendary hotel located on Place Vendôme will auction nearly 1,500 lots, including trinkets, furniture, and exceptional objects. Organized by the renowned auction house Artcurial, this sale promises to attract collectors, art lovers, and fans of the French art of living!
Under the guidance of Stéphane Aubert, auctioneer at Artcurial, a wide variety of objects will be offered, ranging from the sumptuous tufted benches of the legendary Bar Hemingway to more accessible items like embroidered bathrobes or Ritz Paris-branded mugs.
“There’s something for everyone,” confirms Stéphane Aubert, the auctioneer of the sale. “It’s not the first time the Ritz is parting with certain pieces, but this time it’s more focused on its tableware. This is due to changing tastes and the desire of the chefs to renew the decor. Some pieces are no longer useful, such as the large copper pots, which are very heavy to handle. Or the silver-plated metal cloches, which are rarely used anymore… Enough to delight buyers and collectors, who can take home a little piece of the Ritz.”
Among the lots are exceptional items that perfectly illustrate the artistic heritage of the Ritz. A Louis XV-style brass chandelier with crystal pendants recalls the opulent atmosphere of the salons where the biggest names in fashion, from Saint Laurent to Karl Lagerfeld, have passed through. Other items, such as a Christofle silver-plated cutlery set, exemplify the art of the table that made the palace famous.
This auction is also marked by the Ritz’s desire to renew itself, especially in the context of its ongoing decor transformation. Iconic pieces, such as the large copper pots once used in the palace’s kitchens, are finding a second life, offered at auction to those wishing to carry on this art of living. Sets of tableware, champagne flutes, decanters, and even silver-plated service cloches…
Fashion and art have always been intimately tied to the DNA of the Ritz. The hotel has hosted iconic fashion shows and served as a backdrop for haute couture creations or major literary works, such as those of Proust or Hemingway. The historic collaboration between the palace and major designers, like Chanel, makes it a living symbol of French elegance. Naturally, the items for sale during this auction reflect this union between luxury and art, a legacy that the Ritz continues to embody.
The auctions will take place at Artcurial’s headquarters at 7 Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées on September 25, 26, and 27, and will also be accessible by phone and online.
