If there’s one automobile name that has inspired generations of enthusiasts, while symbolizingAmerican dynamism and modernity, it’s Cadillac. The Cadillac Automobile Company was founded at the close of a meeting of a determined group of Detroit natives on the hot afternoon of August 22, 1902. From 1909 onwards, Cadillac became the elite division of the young General Motors and established itself as an entity to be reckoned with. It was to be a force to be reckoned with, both in relation to its main national competitors, Packard, Lincoln, Pierce-Arrow, Stutz, Peerless and Duesenberg, and to the no less formidable European competitors such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Hispano-Suiza, Delage and Isotta Fraschini. The division is part of a constant technical research, themodels of the house propose for example, a world first, the electric starting and lighting since 1912, or still at the disposal of the customers a unique choice of mechanics V8, V12 or V16, then devotes itselffrom 1967 to the technique of the driven front wheels. After the war, stylistically speaking, the Clark Avenue firm took a personal approach to its catalog, which was to become a milestone and influence many competitors around the world. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, Patrick Lesueur began a career as a cartoonist in 1971, notably for the weekly magazine Pilote. In addition to his work as agraphic designer, our artist has a passion for automotive history, which led him in the late 1990s to begin a new profession as a writer at E-T-A-I, resulting in some twenty books.
