Throughout the years, the Martinez has become an institution, an institution that dominates the Mediterranean with seven stories. The hotel was built in the 30s and still preserves its Art Deco allure from those days. Today, the palace combines this sophistication with modern comfort and technology. Among the hotel’s services, the piano bar L’Amiral, the 900 m² L.Raphaël Beauty SPA (including a fitness center, massage parlor, beauty salon, and hairdresser), and an outdoor heated private pool. This is a true luxury hotel, but the luxury is refined, even a bit busy. The bustling atmosphere that prevails within these walls during Festival time speaks volumes: photographers, journalists, employees, hosts, and visitors all come to take advantage of the bar and terrace in a perfect mixture of simplicity and efficiency. It’s commonplace to cross paths with stars like Monica Bellucci and Juliette Binoche here.
The walls of the Martinez have no shortage of stories to tell. In 2004, Quentin Taratino presided over the jury. After the traditional pre-opening dinner, the jury members dined at the restaurant La Palme d’Or. “Quentin Tarantino dragged the chef and the sommelier into a private dance class led by Benoît Poelvoorde aka Claude François (from the film “Podium”) to the tune ‘Alexandrie, Alexandra’,” the hotel recounts. “The American director regularly comes to the Festival de Cannes and likes to spend time at the hotel. Laid back, he has a habit of setting up at the bar most notably to drink a coffee every morning while intently reading the cinema news… A few years ago, our bartender introduced him to the mojito, which he’s been drinking ever since.” Located directly on the Croisette, the Martinez has its own private beach and a restaurant run by star chef Christian Sinicropi. Inspired by artists like Skaka or Laurent Mô, Christian Sinicropi doesn’t hesitate to call on them to participate in his culinary creations: taking a cue from the surrounding environment, cinema, circus (Gruss), ceramics, and drawings all come together around dishes served like a screenplay at La Palme d’Or, Cannes’ most iconic eatery.
