Thanks to a bit of initiative from the Fédération de la Haute Horlogerie, last September, the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, which takes place in Geneva every year, was exported to the other side of the globe this year. Within the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, the whole universe of the Swiss manufacturer came to life. For the greater public, Audemars Piguet displayed an impressive collection of historic pieces borrowed from their private museum. The bold sport models, splendid jewelry watches for ladies… all of these veritable works of art are a perfect demonstration of the brand’s history, innovation, and tradition. Their stand was a reflection of their new boutique concept launched this year. The goal: integrate manufacturing into the point of sale. Within this new concept, Audemars Piguet is highlighting a different relationship with their customers; one that is deeper and more direct.
The brand took advantage of this to launch two new watches exclusively for Watches & Wonders 2013: the Millenary Repetition Minutes and the Chronographe Royal Oak Offshore LeBron James. After two years of collaboration, NBA champ LeBron James has confirmed his role as Audemars Piguet’s ambassador with a limited edition timepiece entirely dedicated to him. The excellence, technique, savoir-faire, and generosity here are unequaled; the two icons have joined forces to create an automatic watch made of 18 carat rose gold with generous dimensions. A raw, asymmetrical look subtly comes together around a titanium bezel and a diamond-encrusted button. This watch is equipped with a grey crocodile leather bracelet that boasts LeBron’s signature as a chic little treat, engraved in blue on the sapphire on the reverse side of the casing. Available in only 600 copies, this luxury model is for every baller that is sensitive to Audemars Piguet’s charm.
