The two brands, who’ve been teaming up since 2011, have always distinguished themselves by creating uniquely designed styles.Today, they’re reiterating what they’ve always done best by redesigning the legendary Big Bang Unico to deliver a version inspired by the curves and volume of the latest Ferraris. “This collaboration that’s full of synergies gave Hublot considerable impetus,” commented Jean-Claude Biver, the brand’s managing director. Constructed within a 45mm titanium frame, in King gold, or in unidirectional carbon, the Big Bang Ferrari is strapped on black alcantara sewn on black rubber sporting the iconic red saddle stitching or on a black Schedoni leather using the emblematic design from Ferrari’s seats. Equipped with the famed Unico motor, the watch is a real combination of Hublot’s craftsmanship and the Italian brand’s style.
The hands, dressed in Ferrari’s emblematic colors, cross the minute counter at 3:00, inspired by a car’s rev counter, and the date, an homage to the speed selection hatch. Continuing their high-speed chase right on through to the dial, they meet the legendary reared horse half-way as it delicately adorns the bottom of the dial. At 9:00, the seconds counter takes the form of an air extractor. As for the bezel’s contours, they’re marked with a cut-out at each of its six screws just like a control panel, giving the watch a sporty look and design.
The crown protector takes inspiration from the turbo function indicator and surrounds the crown that bears the watchmaking brand’s name; on the other side of the watch is the automobile maker’s name. This limited edition is a perfect equilibrium between design and craftsmanship, innovation and functionality, a total fusion between an Italian automobile and a Swiss watch.
