He who exercised his talent for cuts and his love for lines with Céline, Lanvin, and Cacharel, is today applying himself towards turning iconic pieces from Petit Bateau on their head. On the menu: a reinvented striped sweater, its jersey fabric transfigured and quirky stripes to boot! At the center of his reflection: price. “I’ve been questioning myself about it ever since Cacharel. In the midst of a crisis, there was real absurdity in fashion – we were getting up to ridiculous prices. My connecting thread, whether it be for my brand, for La Redoute or for Petit Bateau, is the right product, at the right time, at the right price.”

And when he overturns the striped sweater, Cédric Charlier plays with fluxes of colors with an unparalleled sense of stripes. In his hands, the icon of Petit Bateau gets experimental: the hand-painted stripe effect makes it an object of desire, pure and simple. Petit Bateau’s style signed off on by Cédric Charlier is anchored in its time, mixing sportswear with the couturier’s refined touch. It’s an amusing and self-assuming collection, to be discovered in an avant-première starting December 6th in The Broken Arms boutiques in Paris, at 10 Corso Como in Milan, and at Hunting and Collecting in Brussels. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until December 13th to see the Petit Bateau x Charlier wave break in the brand’s boutiques!
