For next winter’s collection, Kris Van Assche dug up his inspiration in the origins of the brand on 30 Avenue Montaigne. Straight out of the tastes of Monsieur Dior himself for the tailors of Savile Row where he liked to dress himself, he borrowed a discreet elegance tinted with romanticism. But here, the streets encompass the greater style of suits. It’s worth noting that Kris Van Assche gets a large of part of his influences from military garb and work clothes.
To create what is without a doubt his most modern collection, the Belgian designer meticulously combines a tailored look and parkas with an urban vibe. Here, the cut in the fabrics becomes a stripe. The result? A piece that burns with desirability. The Dior men’s flannel parka Fall/Winter 2014-2015 is thought up around the concept of pinstripes, originally conceived as the prerogative of businessmen suits. A mixture of genres worthy of our modernity that, once more, reminds us that the parka is on track to become the new trenchcoat.
